History[edit]

Higher Logic was founded by Rob Wenger and Andy Steggles in the Washington D.C. area in 2007. Whilst Andy Steggles was working as CIO of Risk & Insurance Management Society (RIMS) in New York City, he found that he lacked robust community tools and began working on a better solution for enabling his membership to connect and collaborate.[10] Meanwhile, in Washington D.C., Rob Wenger was at the helm of his second start up, Active Matter. When the two worked together to update RIMS’ web presence, they hit it off. A few years later, realizing they were both passionate about engaging people through an online networking experience, they launched Higher Logic.[10]

The organization originally started as an online community platform to help associations better engage their members. The company has since expanded its footprint to serve B2B organizations worldwide.

In 2018, Andy Steggles (former President) became the non-executive chairman while Rob Wenger (former CEO) became executive chairman passing on the reigns of CEO to Kevin Boyce.

Acquisitions[edit]

In January 2017, Socious, an online community software focused on serving non-profit and B2B enterprise markets was acquired by Higher Logic, which helped make the engagement software more complete.[11]

In February 2017, Higher Logic acquired startup Kavi WorkSpace, a platform allowing organizations to collaborate by securely managing products and documents online. The tool was integrated into Higher Logic’s platform.[12]

In 2017, the organization acquired New York based Informz Inc. and Bethesda-based Real Magnet Inc., both marketing automation companies.[13] This added 140 employees to the organization in addition to email, survey, social media and other marketing capabilities.[13]

Higher Logic acquired Customer Imperative in July 2020 and with it, Gain Grow Retain, the world's fastest-growing community of customer success leaders.[14] This also introduced new leadership to the organization, including Jay Nathan as Chief Customer Officer and Jeff Breusnbach as Director of Customer Experience.[15]
