Hiranya A. Rajasinghe, M.D FACS is an American Board of Surgery certified Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon, in Naples, Florida, who specializes in the treatment, and research, of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) , peripheral arterial disease, carotid artery disease, dialysis access management and venous disorders including deep vein thrombosis (DVT).

Personal life[edit]

Born in Sri Lanka, his parents emigrated to the United States in 1968 and he became a naturalized US Citizen in 1986.

Education and career[edit]

Dr. Hiranya Rajasinghe graduated (Cum Laude) in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry with a bachelor of science from Yale College in 1988 and earned a medical degree from the Duke University School of Medicine in 1992. He completed his residency in general surgery at the University of California, San Francisco in 1999 and a Fellowship in vascular surgery from the Jobst Vascular Center in Toledo, Ohio, in 2002.

Research[edit]

Dr. Rajasinghe has authored and co-authored more than 30 publications..[1][2][3]. His publications include early contributions in pediatric cardiac surgery while working as a research fellow at the University of California, San Francisco under the auspices of an NIH National Research Scientist Award for prenatal induction of immune tolerance for cardiac xenografts (1994-1996). More recent contributions have been in the area of endovascular surgical treatments including Least Invasive Fast-Track Protocol for Aortic Aneurysms Protocol[4], Endovascular Exclusion of Popliteal Artery Aneurysms[5], Great Saphenous Vein Radio-Frequency Ablation[6], Stent-Graft Tunnel in Endovascular Aneurysm Repair[7], Causes and Management of Failing Unibody EVAR Grafts[8] amongst other related subjects.
