Huba (Leader of one of the seven Hungarian Tribes)

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Huba was the leader of the Kürt-Gyarmat tribe and the leader of one of the seven Hungarian Tribes, together with Elöd, Tas, Töhötöm, Ond, Kond, and under the conduction of Prince Álmos.

According to the medieval chronicle known as the Gesta Hungarorum , Huba was sent along with chiefs Szoárd and Kadocsa by the Great Prince Árpád, once they entered the Basin of the Carpathians in 895, to conquer the northern region of Hungary.

Using bow and arrows, as well as other war techniques unknown to most of the local inhabitants, Huba took the cities near Nitra and made the troops of Zobor, the leader of the Slavs, run, forcing them to retreat in their fortress.

Thus, once the battle was over, the Slavic prisoners were brought before Árpád, who after liberating them, appointed Huba as governor of this whole region, granting him the territories up to the border of the Törzsök forest, next to the Žitava river.
