Hubris Games was a publisher of tabletop roleplaying games (RPGs) from 1996 to 2001[1]. It was a member of the Game Manufacturers Association (GAMA) with international distribution of its products. Hubris Games hosted booths in the Exhibitors Hall and ran demonstrations and contests at game conventions like Origins Game Fair and GenCon as well as regional conventions like DundraCon.

Hubris Games was founded by Christian Aldridge and Seth Lindbergh and based out of San Francisco, CA.

Publications included Maelstrom Storytelling, Story Engine, Tales from the Empire, Dacartha Prime, and The Book of Gray. It also published The Ecology Companion for the Providence Roleplaying Game.

When Dacartha Prime was published in 2000 Kenneth Hite referred to it as "Top notch world design, married to a steadily-improving set (two sets, now) of diceless RPG mechanics — well worth a long, low whistle."[2].

The Story Engine games rules were included in the first edition of Maelstrom Storytelling and later published on their own as a universal rules system. Story Engine was the first RPG rules system to use fluid "scene-based" mechanics of any internationally distributed RPG[3].

Story Engine and other titles from Hubris Games are currently published by Precis Intermedia Games.
