History[edit]

As Starkins[edit]

The band were formed in summer 2011 and based in Rotherham/Doncaster, as The Starkins[2] (later known only as Starkins). Their members comes from neighbour South Yorkshire towns and the formation remains the same until today[3]. Their first original song, "Catch Her Eye", was released in December, 2011.

After almost four years recording independently, from 2014 on they recorded with labels such as Label Fandango, which released their first signed single "Roundabout"[4] and Scruff of the Neck[5].

As Huulen[edit]

At February 2018, the band name changed to Huulen, which means "lips" in finnish and also refers to Hulen, a Norwegian pub where they (as Starkins) performed for the first time out of England. With the change, the band also returned to the independent path and their first single, "Down South", was released on YouTube in September 30, 2018, with its official release occurring one week later, in October 5[6]
