ICONOMI is a digital asset management platform on which users create and buy/sell managed baskets of cryptocurrencies and digital assets called Digital Asset Arrays (DAAs). ICONOMI has received recognition in both mainstream and independent finance and technology news media, including Forbes,.[1] CNBC,[2] TechCrunch,[3] and Harvard Business Review.[4]

In its Q4 Financial Report, ICONOMI reported revenues of $1,015,999, leading to a quarterly profit of $66,642, with over 43,000 users and a book value of $327M USD.[5]

History[edit]

ICONOMI was founded by Tim M. Zagar and Jani Valjavec, who previously founded Cashila, the first company in Europe to obtain a banking license for carrying out payments using bitcoin.[6]

The ICONOMI ICO was the largest fintech crowdfund of 2016[7] and took place from August 25, 2016 to September 26, 2016 raising over $10.5 million.[8] 100 million ICN tokens were issued, and the platform was released to the public on August 1, 2017.[9]

ICN token[edit]

ICN is an Ethereum-based ERC20-compliant token. ICN holders benefit from quarterly buybacks made up from several revenue streams, including a 20% performance fee from realized Columbus Capital Pinta (CCP) DAA profits, a 3% yearly management fee from the Columbus Capital Blockchain Index (BLX) DAA management fee, and 30% of yearly management fees collected from other DAAs (the other 70% goes back to the DAA Manager and is paid in his/her DAA’s units). ICONOMI uses these revenues to purchase ICN tokens on the open market and burn them, lowering supply.[10][11] To date 264,313.12 ICN[12] is sent to a burn smart contract that has no withdraw feature.

It is possible to buy and sell ICN tokens through a number of cryptocurrency exchanges, including: Binance, Kraken, Liqui, HitBTC, Etherdelta, LiveCoin, OKEX, IDEX and Cobinhood.[13]

Digital Asset Arrays[edit]

Digital Asset Arrays, or DAAs, are comprised of a selection of digital assets curated and maintained by DAA managers.

The first DAAs released on the platform were BLX and Pinta. On August 11, 2017, ICONOMI announced that Columbus Capital would become the company’s first DAA partner.[14] and take over the running of both these Digital Asset Arrays.

In addition to the Columbus Capital DAAs, there are currently 20 other DAAs available on the platform[15] available. Once a DAA reaches more than $1M AUM, it can be tokenized as an ERC20 token and traded on cryptocurrency exchanges outside of the ICONOMI platform. Several DAAs have been tokenized, including Blockchain Index (BLX)[16], Crush Crypto (CCC)[17], and Greychain Emerging Markets (GEM)[18]

Columbus Capital[edit]

Columbus Capital is the first DAA partner on the ICONOMI platform. It manages Blockchain Index and Pinta. Blockchain Index (BLX) represents an index of major digital assets including Bitcoin and Ethereum weighted by market capitalization.[19][20] Pinta (CCP) is an actively managed closed end array. This means that when profits are taken 20% are used for buybacks and 80% is reinvested into the array. [21] Pinta currently has investments in Golem, Santiment, Aragon, Bancor, and Decentraland amongst others.
