I Hope We Get to Love in Time is the first album by husband/wife duo Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr., former members of the vocal group the 5th Dimension. Released in 1976, the album features the number-one hit "You Don't Have to Be a Star (To Be in My Show)"[2]

Its sound was a departure from that of the 5th Dimension. "In the back of our minds, we still had that desire to see where our careers could go as individuals," McCoo said of striking out on their own. "The 5th Dimension had a wonderful sound ... and every sound has its run. And we had had our run. Well, Billy and I weren't ready to accept that, so we were saying, 'Let's do something different. Let's do something new.'"[3]
