Indian Patent Databases

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

There are two available Indian Patent Databases: iPairs and MCPaIRS

Most of the patents filed in India are in the Pharmaceutical, Food and Life science areas , followed by the telecommunication industry.

iPairs, the Indian Patent Information Retrieval System, is a free search portal launched by the Indian Patent Office. it includes:

1. Full specifications of Indian patents (HTML for more recent publications, and PDF for older publications) 2. Legal status and register information (in a beta phase as of the 2010 release; users are advised to check with the issuing patent office for official status) 3. Copies of the weekly "Patent Office Journal" issued by the IPO (copies may be downloaded in PDF format; an archive of older issues is available) 4. An "application status" search function, which was expanded in September 2010 to provide access to examination reports, specifically the "first examination report" or "FER" which is sent to the applicant following examination. As of September 2010, the system contained FERs back through January 2009, and the gradual addition of older reports is planned.

After the addition of the examination reports to the iPairs legal status, the system can be used to obtain information equivalent to a full file wrapper for Indian patent documents, including bibliographic information, abstracts, full specifications, and legal status data.
