Instagram Pods

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Instagram pods are engagement groups set up by users of Instagram in order to comply and take advantage of the social media platform's algorithms. These pods aim to help members gain engagement quickly after posting a new upload, thus helping the algorithm select their image as being interesting enough for exposure to other users’ feeds[1]. This is similar to the effect of using paid bots[2], but is done so organically, with the help of real accounts.

How Instagram Pods work[edit]

Instagram Pods typically consist of a group of 10-15 Instagram accounts, which agree to comment and like any members’ post within a small amount a time after uploading, and then alert other members in a private messaging group when they have posted on their own feed in order to receive the same engagement in return.[3] It is believed that this then works with the algorithm to allow the post to be shown higher up on other accounts’ feeds[4], thus boosting the post's engagement potential and ultimately the account's followship.

The risk of using Instagram Pods[edit]

A concern of many members of Instagram Pods is the risk of being flagged as a spam account or bot due to consistent engagement activity with the same group of accounts.[5] Instagram began shutting down accounts they believed to be fake in 2017 in a bid to keep the platform enjoyable for its users.[6] However, Instagram has not yet commented on the use of Instagram Pods, so these concerns are based on speculation.
