The International Institute of Image and Sound of Paris is today the leading audiovisual campus in the European Union, with 15,000 m2 of infrastructure, entirely dedicated to the creative industries. Particularly dynamic, these industries offer numerous employment opportunities.

History[edit]

In 1988, graduates from La Fémis, ENS Louis Lumière and film professionals created in the Yvelines a private technical higher education establishment: the International Institute of Image and Sound was born. Over a period of about twenty years, the school developed and extended its field of expertise: cinema, audiovisual, image, sound... Specializations were asserted and expertise was combined.[2]

In 2008, Jean-Claude Walter, former director of La Villette and ADAMI, former civil administrator at the Ministry of Budget in the field of culture, major works and audiovisual, took over the reins of 3iS. He launches a development policy in the pedagogical field (certification of the school's titles with the RNCP) and in the deployment of the campus.

In 2010, the school expanded and developed new fields of study: Digital Animation, Audiovisual Journalism and Entertainment Techniques.

In 2014, 3iS Paris expands: new infrastructures and new equipment provide an even broader offer, responding to changes in the sector: digital projection booths, Fond Vert stage, motion capture studio, radio studio...

In 2015, the 3iS Group will open an office in China. At the same time, 3iS hosts an Apprentice Training Center, the AFOMAV (Association de Formations aux Métiers de l'AudioVisuel), offering the training of CAP projectionist.

In 2016, 3iS Paris opens the Video Game sector. This new training develops other fields of expertise and responds even more comprehensively to the needs of the creative industries.

In 2017, thanks to the new premises in Bordeaux and the success of the Video Game Animation program in Paris, the program will also be offered in Bordeaux. 3iS Paris is creating a Motion Graphics and Scenography department that will enrich its catalog of training courses in artistic and technical fields.

In 2018, 3iS Paris opens a Master of Arts in « Writing & Directing » and a Bachelor of Arts in « Film & Television » (equivalent to the Bachelor of Arts in Cinema & Audiovisual in English).

Academic programs[edit]

Every year, 3iS trains 1900 students in the fields of cinema, audiovisual, sound, live performance, animated film, VFX, video games and multimedia graphic design. In addition to the compulsory internship periods, 3iS group offers its students the possibility of doing all or part of their studies on a work-study basis.
