The Islamic Community Center of Laurel (ICCL) is a non-profit organization located in Laurel, Maryland[1][2] serving the needs of the Muslims in the Laurel area. The center holds regular Friday congregational prayers, Ramadan dinners and prayers, Sunday school classes[3], and other cultural and religious activities. Some of the primary missions of the organization are to promote unity and joint action among the Muslims in the Laurel area and to promote friendly relations between Muslims and non-muslims in the nearby vicinity.

The Islamic Community Center of Laurel was founded over 30 years ago[4] in Laurel, Maryland. The aims and objectives of the organization were established to serve the best interest of Islam to the Muslims of Laurel and nearby vicinity.[5] ICCL has taken part in several interfaith activities with other local religious organizations in the Laurel area.[6][7]
Hate Crime Incident[edit]
Police investigated a possible hate crime on September 5, 2016, where a white tractor trailer was caught on surveillance video backing into the ICCL building.[8] Fortunately there was no one in the building during the incident and no injuries were reported.[9] The damage done to the building was estimated to be around $10,000[10]
"Laurel police were informed of the incident Tuesday morning," said Police Chief Richard McLaughlin. "It was originally classified as a case of vandalism. Based on new information from the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the case has now been reclassified as a possible hate crime."[4]
