Isle of You is a Swedish electropop duo consisting of best friends Ida Johansson and Elina Danielsson.

Isle of You creates synth pop with influences from Robyn, Icona Pop, Madonna and Tove Lo..[1] The duo writes about grand emotions in tiny moments. Debut album "Party until we're in love" was released 28th June 2019 [2] Isle of You described the album as “Our universe where emotions are allowed to govern, a world of youthful immortality, freedom, heartbreak and friendship. A collection of great emotions in small moments." The duo has been nominated as The Best Group of 2019.[3][4][5] by the music blog Scandipop and nominated at P3 Guld 2020 .

2018 Isle of You received hype from Sveriges Radio P3 Swedish National Radio Station P3, when their single "Bodyguard" was added to the Spotify playlist "Team Sia´s Ear Candy",Team Sia's Ear Candy, a playlist by Sia on Spotify a Spotify playlist with 75 000 followers.[6] The singles "Change of Heart" and "Hold Tight" were picked as "Veckans Låt", (The song of the week) by P3. In May 2019, Isle of You was nominated as "Framtidens Artist" (The future Artist) by Sveriges Radio P3 and in may 2019 the duo was nominated in the national competition P3 Guld .

Several songs will be released in 2021, starting with the release of the upcoming song Fallback on the 16th of April.

Biography[edit]

Ida Johansson and Elina Danielsson, who grew up on Öland formed the duo in 2008 at the early age of 10 years old. 2013 Isle of you won the local final of the national music youth contest, Musik Direkt[7]. 2014 the duo started working with Rampac Recordings and management[8][9]. May 2015 Isle of You appeared on Swedish national television SVT:s Gomorron.[10]

In the Spring of 2016 Isle of You were licensed by Universal / Capitol Records[11] for Scandinavia and Finland.

The 10 of June 2016 Isle of You released their debut single 50 +1[12] which, the week after went straight to number 1 on Spotifys viral list for one week straight[13]. The lyrics for 50 +1 contains references to "Taylor Swift" and the phrase "Taylor Swift crush" got focus on international blogs[14]. July 2016, 50 +1 was playing in all Lindex stores after Soundtrack you brand curated it in their playlists[15]

January 13th 2017 the single Mindcrime was released[16] and Isle of You started a collaboration with the influencer network, United Screens[17].

Spring 2017, Isle of You performed a live show at the prison Pedregal, Medellin, Colombia. The duo also performed at orphanages in Medellin, which is documented on Isle of you YouTube channel[18]. The song Bodyguard is a shout out to having your best friends back, which captures the essence of what the duo is all about.[19][20] The idea for Bodyguard came after the duo performed at the prison in Medellin, Colombia.[20] The song received hype from Sveriges Radio P3 Swedish National Radio Station P3, when the single was added to the Spotify playlist "Team Sia´s Ear Candy",Team Sia's Ear Candy, a playlist by Sia on Spotify a Spotify playlist with 75 000 followers.[6]

April 2017 Isle of You represented Swedish music at the Canadian Music Week, Toronto. In July 2017 Isle of You performed at Swedish festivals like Peace and Love[21], Putte i Parken[22] och Latitud 57[23]

On the 20th of April 2018, Isle of You released the song Skintight which was added by Spotify to the playlists New Music Friday in Sweden, Germany, Switzerland and South Africa[24]. The newspaper Barometern compares the song and the new sound with Icona Pop[25] and gave Skintight 4 out 5 in their review[26]. The 24th of April Skintight was added to Spotify viral chart Sweden[27]. Skintight was also added as the number 1 hot song at the student radio Shore[28]. The Blog Scandipop[29] placed Skintight as number 1 on the playlist Best new pop[30]

In April 2019, Isle of You were support act to Norwegian band Highasakite at Kägelbanan , Stockholm and Pustervik, Göteborg.[31] The duo also opened for Swedish indie pop duo Junior Brielle at Mejeriet. In the summer of 2019, Isle of You played at Swedish festival Putte i Parken, in Karlstad.[32]
