J.C. "Lil Swag" Cordeta

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

J.C. "Lil Swag" Cordeta was born on November 14th 1989 in San Pedro California. His father came from The Philippines and his mother was an Afro American from San Pedro with roots in Mississippi. Cordeta grew up around music of all genres and was influenced by the arts at a very young age for the fact that his dad played the guitar on a daily basis and most of his uncles on his moms side played instruments. He began listening to Hip Hop music in 1994 but began to heavily follow the rap music industry in 1997 when he began to create his own cassette tapes of various artist on the radio that he wanted to hear more consistently. J.C.'s interests of becoming a recording artist himself grew around the age of 10 while he was living in Compton California. By the time he was 12 and living in Portland Oregon he started to battle rap at his middle school and gained recognition as an aspiring MC. This same year Lil Swag embarked upon the journey of becoming a lyrical writer. Starting with cassette tapes and a small boom box radio, Cordeta would record songs with his younger brother, Swiggle Mandela, as well as childhood friends. When he reached the age of 13 he recorded his first studio record. He would then go on to record a plethora of songs throughout his teenage years. At the age of 16 J.C. was opening up for the legendary Hip Hop group Dead Prez to raise money for starving children in Africa, accompanied by his group at the time known as U.S.A. La Familia, which included his younger brother Swiggle and his God brother Anael Jeannis. The show with Dead Prez was held at the Wonder Ballroom in Portland Oregon. At the same venue, a year later, he opened up for the well respected lyrical genius Immortal Technique to help stop the violence between black and brown people, with his group. During all this time Cordeta worked diligently to generate a massive buzz in his city of Portland by battling other rappers in North and Northeast Portland at locations such as Woodlawn Park and Grant High School. Rumor has it that J.C. was banned from rap battling at his high school because when his performances took place no student would attend class just to witness the monumental entertainment. Lil Swag was also extremely dedicated to creating a following online using the social media network platform Myspace. His group was booked for many local shows, including a show with Professor Griff of Public Enemy when he was 18 years old to raise awareness of gang violence in his community. The summer of 2009, J.C. Cordeta along with his group opened up for the Grammy award-winning artist Eminem's Grammy nominated super group D-12 for the Dazed and Dirty tour at the Wonder Ballroom. His group was contacted by an A and R of Koch Records and informed that Koch was interested in signing the group. With that in the air Cordeta jumped to the opportunity to start recording a project. He was already in the groove of recording a massive amount of tracks because in the spring of 2009 his cousin known in the streets as Tripp Duggy shot at a couple of gang members at his groups video shoot in Northeast Portland and he vowed to record as many tracks as he could while his relative was serving time in prison. He would go on to record 3 tracks a day for a span of two and a half years. While he was working on recording a project for Koch Records he received a phone call from his brother Mandela stating that an artist signed to Jim Jones living in Seattle wanted to work with them. Swag of Paper Route Records and Byrd Gang West came down from Seattle Washington to work with Cordeta and his group. They recorded a record titled "Northwestcoastin" and the video they shot would end up reaching over 100,000 views on YouTube. Cordeta and his group were the first in Portland Oregon history to reach over 100,000 views on YouTube. Unfortunately while working on mixtape projects for Paper Route Records and gearing up to work with Jim Jones, Cordeta was arrested after a man was shot in a home invasion robbery and would go on to serve almost 7 years in prison. When released from prison in the winter of 2018 he recorded a 18 track mixtape released on Datpiff http://www.datpiff.com/profile/Lilswag74 and a mini EP released on Amazon, iTunes, Spotify, Google music and all other major music media platforms, featuring artists such as C-Smoove of Cali Swag District, Swag of Paper route Records, Swiggle Mandela, Dmarx, Timmi Hendrixxx, Tripp Duggy and Anael Jeannis. Production by Stewart Villain, K. Prynce and J Hix. He released a music video for his single STOOPID JUICE, which has reached Shade 45 Radio, Spinrilla, Sirius XM Radio and more.
