JQBX.fm is a music streaming website based in New York City that allows users to listen to music, chat, and vote on whats playing in real time with anyone anywhere in the world. The site is a free service that builds on top of Spotify and requires a Spotify Premium account to use.

Overview[edit]

JQBX.fm consists of different online virtual "rooms", that users can freely create. Inside each room, the users can choose to join a "DJ queue" and wait for their turn to be the DJ for everyone else in the room. The DJ can play any song from the Spotify library. Alternatively, users in the room can just listen passively with the option to vote "Thumbs Up" or "Thumbs Down" on what's currently being played or add the track to their own playlists. There are no microtransactions, but there are trophies which can be rewarded after certain metrics are met. The service has been listed as a useful tool to discover new music[2]
