James Taylor & Son

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

James Taylor & Son is a bespoke shoemaking company based in Marylebone, London. It manufactures bespoke shoes for both men and women, and primarily specialises in customers who have a medical need for made-to-measure footwear.

James Taylor & Son began in 1857 in Great Portland Street and was set up by James Taylor, a shoemaker from Norwich. It was held in the Taylor family until 1950 when it was purchased by Hannes Leo Schweiger, a German orthopaedic shoemaker, who moved the business to its current address in Paddington St, Marylebone. James Taylor & Son is one of four remaining members of the West End Master Bootmakers Association. It is now owned by the current Managing Director, Steven Robinson.

James Taylor & Son uses 3D foot scanning and CAD/CAM technology in the design of bespoke lasts and upper patterns. Manufacturing continues to be essentially by hand.
