Jean-Pascal Van Overbeke is a corporate executive in the telecom business. He holds a dual French and Belgian citizenship. He has been ap­pointed as Chief Consumer Market Officer at Royal KPN NV, effective as of 1 September 2018.[1]. He oversees the day-to-day operations of KPN's Consumer activities and report to the CEO, Maximo Ibarra.

Early Life[edit]

Van Overbeke was born March 26, 1965 in Leuven, Belgium. He holds a degree in Historical Sciences from University of Leuven in Belgium and a degree in Marketing and Advertising from Université libre de Bruxelles.

Career[edit]

He has spent his initial days in the operations and strategy divisions in the fast moving consumer goods and advertising industries in Belgium.

Prior to 2005, he served as Director of Transformation Strategy at Belgium's Mobistar. He was subsequently transferred to the United Kingdom as an interim Head of Marketing at Orange S.A. and by 2007, was promoted to Senior Vice President of Sales and Loyalty. At Orange in the United Kingdom, Van Overbeke held various top management positions such as Director of Strategic Marketing, Vice President of Consumer Sales and Marketing and before he left, as Chief Marketing Officer.

He joined Maxis Communications in 2009 as Chief Operating Officer and was responsible for the overall commercial business with direct oversight on the Maxis and Hotlink brands, consumer, enterprise, carrier, SME, broadband businesses, product development and customer service[2]. Van Overbeke was promoted to Group Chief Operating Officer and was then transferred to Delhi in 2012 to oversee the transformation of Aircel[3]

In 2014, Van Overbeke moved back to the United Kingdom and served as Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Lebara[4]. He was also appointed was Non-Executive Director of Sun TV Networks Europe Limited[5].

Van Overbeke had been Executive Director of B2C Activities at Numericable-SFR since 2016, CEO Virgin Telecom France (Omea Telecom SAS) and CEO of its holding company Omea Holdings (2016-2017)[6]. He also held various other positions, CEO Société Francaise de Radiotelevison Fibre SAS (2016-2017) and Chairman Intelcia Service Clients (2016-2017)[6].
