Jean Bürlesk

Jean Beurlet (born 1992), known by his pen name Jean Bürlesk, is a Luxembourg writer working in English, German and French. His collection of short stories The Pleasure of Drowning won the 2019 Prix d'Encouragement de la Fondation Servais.[1][2]

Biography[edit]

Born in Luxembourg on 15 March 1992, he studied history, political science, Islamic culture and Slavic philology at the Universities of Heidelberg and Luxembourg.[1] He is an official tour guide of the city of Luxembourg.

Awards[edit]

Bürlesk has received several awards in Luxembourg, most notably at the Concours littéraire national in 2013 for his German-language play Eine herrliche Frau, as well as the Encouragment Prize of the Fondation Servais in 2019. In 2020, he won a Chrysalis Award at the Eurocon in Rijeka.[3]
