Jerrold Brandell
Jerrold Brandell is a psychoanalyst and social work clinician, who holds a distinguished professorship at the Wayne State University School of Social Work, where he has taught since 1992. [1] He has also held visiting professorships in New Zealand, Sweden, and Switzerland, and presented lectures and clinical workshops in North America, Europe, Asia, and the Pacific Rim. Jerrold Brandell has published numerous articles and book chapters, as well as 14 books on such topics as attachment, psychodynamic practice, trauma, child psychotherapy, narrativity, and the portrayal of psychoanalysis in popular film. He is founding editor-in-chief of the journal, Psychoanalytic Social Work,[2] and serves on two other editorial boards. In 2017, Brandell received the American Association for Psychoanalysis in Clinical Social Work’s Selma Fraiberg Award for his “contributions to work with children, adolescents and their parents,” [3] and the Edith Abbott Award for Lifetime Achievement by the University of Chicago’s School of Social Service Administration [4].
