Ji Yeon Kim (born October 18, 1989) is a South Korean female mixed martial artist. She currently competes in the flyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). [1][2][3][4]
Mixed martial arts career[edit]
Early career[edit]
During her amateur career, Ji Yeon Kim acquired a 3-0 record in amateur MMA, a 6-2 record in amateur boxing with 3 KOs, and an 11-2-1 amateur kickboxing record with 6 KOs.[3]
In 2013, Kim began her professional MMA career and fought mainly at bantamweight in Road FC and Top FC South Korean events prior to 2017.[1] Her pre-2017 professional career also included three MMA bouts in Japan, the last of which garnered her a Women's Bantamweight Championship at Deep - Jewels 9.[5] In total, she amassed a professional MMA record of six wins and two draws prior to signing with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.[1]
Ultimate Fighting Championship[edit]
In 2017, Jim Yeon Kim signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship and made her UFC Bantamweight debut at UFC Fight Night: Holm vs. Correia on June 17, 2017.[2] This first UFC fight resulted in a loss to Lucie Pudilová via unanimous decision.[6] In 2018, Kim switched to the UFC flyweight division and acquired her first UFC win, beating Justine Kish via split decision on January 27, 2018.[7] Kim followed this win with another split decision win against Melinda Fabian on June 23, 2018.[8]
