Jive Shikisha! came into being via the development of the ethnic references on Robin Scott's album The Official Secrets Act.
Scott produced an EP of African acts in Kenya which to the recording of Jive Shikisha! in Kenya and the UK between 1983 and 1984, using musicians from several different African states. The album featured the titular female vocal trio Shikisha from South Africa, Wally Badarou and Julian Scott. Thanks to legal wranglings [1], the album did not see a general UK release until 1998.
The album was also released in Japan on the Victor label – VICP-63740
