John Edmonds Kozma (born January 25, 1972) is an American producer, manager, director, actor, and founder of Bang Productions. He has become a trail blazer in the comedy industry due to his high demand client, Darren Knight who has over a 100 straight sold out comedy shows.

Early life[edit]

John Edmonds Kozma was born January 25, 1972 in Asheville, North Carolina. He was raised by Ann and John J Kozma. His mother, Ann Kozma was a school teacher while his father, John J Kozma, worked as a teacher eventually becoming a school Principal. Then he worked for a company called Kellog’s.

In 1990, Kozma attended Spartanburg Methodist College in South Carolina where he played baseball. Then he transferred to Charleston Southern University in 1992. He started getting into the film industry by making an independent film called “The Humans” (2000).

January 25, 2016, Kozma partnered with a major studio and A-list Executive Produce/Writer Chris Case to cross-pollinate his talents to unscripted television. The new entertainment entity still called Bang Productions plans to develop scripted television, unscripted television, and film.

June 24, 2016 Kozma signed with Darren Knight. Kozma is changing how comedy shows are sold considering the fact that within a short timespan Knight sold out 100 plus comedy shows. Darren Knight is a southern boy from a small town in rural Alabama, who lost his job at Sears and he decided to make videos in his spare time. Little did he know that he would become a social media celebrity by acting as Southern Momma. He has amassed millions of fans through Facebook. Diply.com stated, “Darren has one of the most powerful Facebook pages on the web” with a 90% female fan base. “Southern Momma” clothing line was launched in 2016 on his Shopify.com website and in retail stores in the Southeast. He’s been compared to Jeff Foxworthy, as the next star of redneck comedy.

Past Projects[edit]

Kozma first came to prominence as a producer of music videos, crafting clips for such artists as Sean Combs, Mario Winans, DEL (a remake of the George Michael classic "Careless Whisper"), N*E*R*D backing band Spymob ("Walking Under Green Leaves"), and rapper Lil B.

In 2004, he produced the independent comedy feature Communication Breakdown and appeared in the film as the character "Sgt. Jeff Blackman."

Kozma and Bang Productions worked closely with Red Bull from 2005-2007 producing and directing documentaries for television. The focus was on some of the most extreme Enduro races in the world. These featured such action sports stars as Travis Pastrana, Nate Adams, Andy Bell, Ronnie Renner and many Enduro stars including David Knight.

Bang Productions was the first company to bring Enduro racing to America Television. Based on Kozma's vision, X-Games started an Enduro event in 2011.

In 2007, Kozma produced and directed a documentary called Giant Maximus, focusing on the annual Los Angeles-based music festival. World famous club DJ, Armin van Buuren, narrated the film.

In 2010, Kozma also produced a boxing event at the world famous Oheka Castle in Huntington, NY. It consisted of six professional boxing matches featuring Bryon "Gator" Mitchell and "Big" Michael Grant with stars attending like Evander Holyfield, Pernell Whitaker, Gerry Cooney, Tyrell Biggs, Lou Duva, Mark Breland, Dina Lohan, Brandon Jacobs, and Michael Lohan.

August 1, 2011, a reality show was created with his partner Brandon Lang professional sports handicapper who worked with Kozma on the Brandon Lang Show. The reality show was set up at the USA network in 2012. A Pilot was green-lit called "All In".

September 5, 2014, Kozma created "Food Hero Mimi Kozma]" after his wife Mimi appeared on “The Chew” and beat Carla Hall in a cook off with her “Mama’s Chocolate Creme Pie”. She also appeared on Dr. Oz discussing grilling and the benefits of beer being used as a marinade which helps prevent cancer. "Food Hero Mimi Kozma" was born from my desire to help people and express herself through food.

Personal life[edit]

On December 23, 2007 Kozma married Mimi. Kozma and Mimi have one daughter, Marianna (11).
