Early Life and Education[edit]

Johnny Pitt was born on 14th August 1972 to David and Margo Pitt, and is the youngest of three brothers. David Pitt (deceased 1994) was Chairman of a Manchester stockbroking firm and Margo, a double-first law graduate and academic (Glasgow University).  Her last high profile role was at The University of Manchester, Science and Technology (UMIST) - where she was the first ever female Chair of Council.

Pitt was educated at Shrewsbury School (1985-1990) and then Durham University (1991-1994), graduating with a BA Hons in Ancient History and Archaeology. He played University 1st X1 football.

Pitt lives in West London and has two children.

Career[edit]

After graduating, Pitt joined Saatchi and Saatchi’s PR agency, Rowland Saatchi, from 1995 – 1997.

From 1997 – 2001 he worked at the global PR network Euro RSCG Biss Lancaster, ultimately becoming New Business Director at the age of 28.

In Summer 2001 Pitt founded Launch PR, the UK’s first ever project based PR agency, a new industry model at the time. [1][2]   In 2006 Launch PR became Launch Group, one of the UK’s first independent integrated PR agencies - covering media relations, social and experiential. [3] [4][5][6] In 2017 the agency renamed simply to ‘Launch’, and is recognised as one of the UK’s most creative independents with head offices in Soho.[7] [8][9][10][11]Pitt oversees the agency’s creative output and is an Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist, has been voted Best Agency Leader (Marketing magazine and StopGap Recruitment) and won Best Agency Campaign of the Year (PRCA) for client, Disney.[12]

In 2015, frustrated by the poor showcase of agency creative and talent during award ceremonies, Pitt founded another business and industry first – The Creative Shootout, a one day creative competition, involving the most creative marketing agencies in the UK and done for a different charity each year.[13] [14][15] [16]Each finalist agency has just ten minutes to pitch back their creative (against a charity brief they’ve received that day and had only four hours to work on) - to a live audience and high profile judging panel.[17]  [18]The Shootout is usually held at BAFTA and attracts significant media and influencer interest.[19][20] [21]

In 2018 Pitt founded the mobile first, social donation network™, Thinking of You®. Thinking of You launched in November 2018. [22][23][24]
