Jorge David Mijares Martinez

Jorge David Mijares Martinez (born in September 29, 1967 in Caracas, Venezuela) is a former Master competition swimmer who had represented Venezuela in PanAmerican, Sudamerican and world swimming championships.

He studied at Vincennes University in Indiana, USA. He was member of the 1985-86 Men´s and women´s swimming and diving team. He graduated from the Vincennes University with an associate degree in Aviation Maintenance. At June 2013 in the PanAmerican Master in Sarasota, Florida he achieved the national record on 800m free style, same year at the Sudamerican Master in Chile he also achieved national record in 200m butterfly and 400 meter free style. By the end of the year in October 2013 completed his four national record in 1500m free style for category 45 49 years at the II Gran Prix Master of Venezuela. His first international gold medal was at the IX Sudamerican Master Championship in Mar de Plata, Argentina in 2009 in 200 meter butterfly. Then in 2013 at the XI Sudamerican Master Championship in Chile he obtain two more gold medal in category 45-49 year swimming 200 meter butterfly and 3Km open water.

He is known for his records swimming open water in the international championship Orinoco and Caroni rivers competition where he has participated over 12 years holding first place in his category for 8 years.
