Joseph William Montgomery, II (12 March 1983-) is a Philadelphia-based education attorney and radio personality. He has dedicated his life and practice to helping children receive a safe and effective education.

Education and Career[edit]

Joseph Montgomery earned his J.D. Degree from Widener Law, after which he joined the Philadelphia's DA Office. After a number of successful years with the DA office, Mr. Montgomery started his own law practice, Montgomery Law, LLC, focusing on legal issues related to education, special education and serious school incidents.[1]. He is also the judicial law clerk to the Honorable Maria McLaughlin and sits on the Board of the Pennsylvania Association for Gifted Education while serving as its legal advisor

Prominent Cases[edit]

Some of Montgomery's prominent work includes a case against the Stroudsburg School District in which the school district failed to properly handle bullying incidents over a course of years involving a teenager with autism.[2] In another case, Montgomery rallied against the Easton Area School District in favor of a blind student with intellectual disabilities that was abused by an alcoholic nurse for four years.[3]

Recently Montgomery argued in the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals in a matter against Temple University.

Radio[edit]

Joseph Montgomery hosts the EducationLawyers.com Sunday School Show both on 107.9 Praise Philly as well 610ESPN [4]. The show touts itself as an educational show, a show not only about educational issues, but also that it is meant to serve as an everyday education- covering topics such as sleep, anxiety and morning routines.***

Parent Vs. School[edit]

In his book Parent Vs. School, Montgomery begins by discussing ways in which parents should negotiate their child's education and what they are entitled to. He discusses common cases and well as common ways to fix these issues. If advocating and negotiating a child's education gets nowhere, he suggests how to handle the matter in court or settle out of it.

Parent Vs. School sat atop the Amazon's bestseller list for its category.

Bodybuilding[edit]

Montgomery is also an avid bodybuilder. He has participated in numerous bodybuilding competitions and was, for a period of time, sponsored by one of the largest supplement companies- BSN[5].

29:59[edit]

Along with a few friends, Montgomery developed a fitness program designed to provide a comprehensive workout in under 30 minutes. The 12-week program targets overall fitness as well as specific muscle groups. Content uploaded to the program's website, http://30-minute-workout.com, ranges from exercise videos, nutritional advice as well as Montgomery's (unpatented) Blender Bottle Egg Trick[6]
