Julie Pochron
Julie Pochron (born 1969 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American photographer and photographic printer. She is based in Brooklyn, New York.
Early Life and Education[edit]
Pochron graduated with a B.F.A. from Pratt Institute in 1991. After graduating, she worked in New York as a photographic printer, printing the work of several notable artists.
Career[edit]
Pochron opened her own business in 1999, Pochron Studios LLC.[1] Her current clients include Anne Collier, Leslie Hewitt, Matt Keegan, Leigh Ledare, Ryan McGinley, Eileen Quinlan, and Sara VanDerBeek.
Since 1998, Pochron has been an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Pratt Institute.[2] She has given guest lectures at New York University, Rhode Island School of Design, Parsons School of Design, and the International Center of Photography.[3]
Artwork[edit]
Inspired by the work of Robert Mapplethorpe, Pochron has been creating self-portraiture since 1989. Since 1993, she has exhibited work at galleries across the United States, including Safe-T-Gallery, Halsey McKay Gallery, and One Institute in Los Angeles[4]. Her work has been included in publications such as Prattfolio Magazine[5] and AUTO FOCUS: The Self-Portrait in Contemporary Photography.
