K S Kular is the founder president of Mini Gastric Bypass weight loss surgeons international club.[1]. He is the first surgeon to start Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery in India[2]. He is a certified Bariatric surgeon of Excellence, certified by Surgical Review Corporation, USA[3]. He is a close associate & a student of world-renowned Dr Robert Rutledge, the father of Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery from the USA[4].
He was also awarded Bariatric & Metabolic Surgeon of Excellence status by the European Accreditation Council[5]. Kular is the first Indian surgeon invited by the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery to demonstrate a live Mini Gastric Bypass procedure in the 2015 Obesity week international meeting at Los Angeles, California[6]. Kular has performed thousands of weight loss surgeries. He has been the director of the IFSO Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery training courses[7] in different countries like Germany, France, Canada and United Kingdom.
Education & Career[edit]
K.S.Kular did his graduation (M.B.B.S) from Govt. Medical College Patiala, Punjab, India and postgraduation (M.S) from Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana, Punjab, India[8]. He underwent his training in Bariatric Surgery at Cyprus Fairbanks Medical Center and Twelve Oaks Medical Center, Houston, Texas. He then got trained with world-renowned Dr Robert Rutledge, known as the father of Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery at Saint Rose Dominican Hospitals, Henderson, Nevada, USA[9].
Dr Kular is a published author of a chapter on “Mini Gastric Bypass” in a famous Bariatric Surgery book by Springer, USA “ Obesity, Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery – a practical guide[10].
