Karl Dewazien

Karl Dewazien was born in 1945 at a hospital in Darmstadt, Germany. His family immigrated to the United State in 1956 where the settled in Lemoore, California.
Dewazien attended Fresno Pacific University in Fresno, California where he was a player-coach, and later as head coach, for the FPU Vikings. He was inducted to the Fresno Pacific University Athletics Hall of Fame in 2014.[1]
Dewazien has written a series of Soccer coaching books called 'FUNdamental Soccer' covering youth coaching advice. One of the books from the series has been translated, and distributed, in China, Japan, and various Spanish speaking countries [1]
In 1978, Dewazien authored, published, and copywrote the 'Modified Laws of the Game' which were adapted from the 'Laws of the Game' for youth soccer in the United States. In 2017, US Soccer adopted Dewazien's 'Modified Laws of the Game' with minor modification and mandated them as a national program.[2]
