Kathleen Teipner Sandoval

Kathleen Teipner Sandoval (born July 13, 1965) is a former first lady of Nevada. She was married to Nevada governor Brian Sandoval from 1990 until their divorce in 2018.[1] She is the director of the Children’s Cabinet, the largest nonprofit organization in northern Nevada.[2]

Early life[edit]

Sandoval was born on July 13, 1965 in Reno, Nevada to Jean McKinley Teipner and James Wood Teipner, Jr. She attended Earl Wooster High School, graduating in 1983.[1] Sandoval then attended Lewis and Clark College, the University of Nevada and Cal State Long Beach majoring in physical therapy. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology, followed by a Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology with a focus on brain injuries from the University of Nevada.[1]

Career[edit]

After graduation, Sandoval worked as a speech-language pathologist in a brain injury unit followed by Regional Manager for a health company that helped develop brain injury units.[1]

In 2000, she joined the Children's Cabinet in Northern Nevada, an organisation which works with at-risk children who have been abused, who are runaways and/or have substance abuse or delinquency problems. She later became the program director for the organisation and also established a similar programme in Southern Nevada.[1]

Sandoval is also the Executive Director of the Nevada Center for Children and Youth.[3]
