Kevin Andrews (businessman)

Kevin Andrews is a Honolulu-based entrepreneur and inventor who heads Plant Research Corp. dba Hula Girls Foods, located in Waimānalo, Hawaii.[citation needed] He is the former President of the Waimanalo Chamber of Commerce.[1] He is also the President and Founder of Blue Star Steel Corp, a Hawaii corporation which aims to distribute dignified low-cost housing using state-of-the-art manufacturing technology.[2]

In 1975, Andrews started growing sugar cane, and in 1983 he and his wife Carol, owners of Plant Research Corporation, began manufacturing and marketing their unique sugar cane products in Hawaii. Hula Girl Foods was formed several years later and is the brand name under which the sugar cane products are manufactured and sold. Hula Foods’ headquarter is located in Waimanalo on the island of Oahu.

Andrews holds patents for novelty sugarcane products,[3] which he manufactures using organic sugarcane and distributes through Hula Girl Foods. Its products are sold and used around the world, including by spirits manufacturer Bacardi and outlets in Hawaii such as ABC Stores.[4]

Hula Foods products include Swizzle Cane Sticks, Coffee & Tea Stirrers, Sugar Cane Skewers, Chopsticks, and Sugar Cane Muddler.
