Kevin Wendell Crumb, also known as "The Horde", is a fictional character and the main antagonist in the Unbreakable film series, portrayed by Scottish actor James McAvoy. Crumb is a young man suffering from a dissociative identity disorder who possesses 23 personalities whose body chemistry changes in each personality. The personalities also believe that there is a 24th personality known as "The Beast".

Fictional character biography[edit]

When Kevin was a child, his father left on a train and never came back. After this, Kevin's mother became abusive towards him and would punish him if he'd done something bad. These events gave Kevin a multiple personality disorder as a defence mechanism. The first of these personalities to come "into the light" was Dennis, a protective "alter" who is very obsessed with keeping everything clean. Sometime after, Kevin later developed 23 personalities which include; Hedwig, Barry, Dennis, Patricia, Jade, Orwell, Heinrich, Norma, Goddard, Bernice, Polly, Luke, Rakel, Felicia, Ansel, Jelin, Kat, B.T, Samuel, Mary Reynolds, Ian, Mr. Pritchard and a believed 24th personality known by some as "The Beast" who was revealed to be real. Later in life, Kevin worked at a Philadelphia Zoo until two young teenage girls played a cruel sexual prank on Kevin, leaving him disorientated and possibly contributed in Dennis' peculiar sexual appeal.
