Kimball Midwest is a privately held company based in Columbus, Ohio.  Founded in 1923, Kimball Midwest provides solutions and products in the industrial maintenance aftermarket.  Through its 850+ sales representatives, e-commerce platform, and four strategically located distribution centers, Kimball Midwest provides customized inventory solutions, safety seminars, and more than 49,000 MRO parts products including fasteners, chemicals, shop supplies, and more.[1]

History[edit]

The Kimball Company was founded in 1923.  In 1933, Midwest Motor Supply was formed by Ernie Heil and Bill Worstel.  In 1950, Dutch Snyder, Mr. Sheffield, and Pat McCurdy Sr. purchased Midwest Motor Supply.  Until 1984, Midwest Motor Supply operated primarily as an automotive retailer.  In 1984, Midwest Motor Supply acquired the Kimball Company.  This acquisition changed the organization’s reach and product offering.  It also led to the organization doing business as Kimball Midwest.  In 1992, Kimball Midwest had acquired Performance Engineered Products and merged the product offerings.

Products and Services[edit]

Kimball Midwest sells maintenance, repair, and operations products in 19 categories including abrasives, chemicals, fasteners, fluid flow/hydraulics, welding, pneumatics, and more. These products are used in industries such as automotive, agriculture, construction, and manufacturing.[2]

Kimball Midwest specializes in customizable inventory solutions though its Materials Management Systems (MMS), which are designed to increase a shop’s productivity and access to parts.[3]  In addition, the company offers safety seminars to educate customers about specific product lines.
