Kira Aundrea Lewis Jr. (born April 4, 2001) is an American collegiate basketball player for the for the Alabama Crimson Tide men's basketball team. Listed at 6'3, 168 pounds, Lewis plays the point guard position and is regarded as one of the top returning players in the Southeastern Conference.

Early life[edit]

Born April 4th, 2001 Kira was born to Natasha Doss Lewis and Kira Lewis Sr. in Huntsville, Alabama. Lewis attended Hazel Green High School in Hazel Green Alabama, where he starred at the Point Guard position.

Recruiting[edit]

Coming out of High School, Lewis was considered one of the better players in the 2018 recruiting class by Scout.com, Rivals.com and ESPN.[1][2] On August 10, 2018, Lewis committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide, on the same day he signed his letter of intent (LOI) alongside fellow recruits Javian Fleming-Davis and Diante Wood. Originally a scheduled 2019 recruit, Lewis reclassified to the 2018 class.

College career[edit]

Lewis' Freshman campaign saw immediate success, winning the starting point guard job within a few games. Over the course of the season, Lewis averaged 13.5 PPG and 2.6 AST for the Crimson Tide- leading them to an 18-16 record. Lewis gained notoriety across the country by becoming the youngest active player in college basketball at 17 years old. After the conclusion of the 2018-19 basketball season, Lewis was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team.

On March 26th, 2019, Lewis officially entered the NCAA transfer portal after the firing of Alabama Crimson Tide men's basketball Head Coach Avery Johnson.[3]

On April 8th, 2019, Lewis officially exited the NCAA transfer portal after talks with new Alabama Crimson Tide men's basketball Head Coach Nate Oats.[4]
