Koda Sail

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Koda Sail is a tour company operating in Europe, in particular Croatia, along the Dalmatian Coast from Split to Dubrovnik.

Koda Sail was formed in 2015 specifically to create tours for the Young Professional travellers aged mid 20's to late 30's, with a focus on sightseeing, socialising, culture, adventure and networking.[1]

History[edit]

In 2010, company founder Chris Tabone arrived in London on a 1 year sabbatical ready to explore Europe. Then aged 30, being a Young Professional traveller himself, found it hard to find group travel that suited his age bracket. It was here where he realised there was a gap in the market. To gain experience in the tourism industry he became a tour guide and went on to learn all the fundamentals needed to run successful tours. In 2014 after a few years of experience, he placed 5th in the world in TourRadar's 'Guide of the Year' awards [2], which led to the start of Koda Sail.

By himself, using his local contacts in the industry and word of mouth marketing from previous passengers on his tours, he gathered a group and created the first tour for Koda Sail, the Dalmatian Voyager [3].

At the end of the trip, the feedback given and along with the reviews [4] proved there was definitely a gap in the market and a need for this style of travel for the Young Professional traveller.

The following year, Koda Sail increased the amount of departures to 4 for the Summer. Again successfully filling the tours to grow again in 2017 adding on even more departures. Along the way, Koda Sail has picked up back to back awards in the Sailing Tour of the Year [5] [6] category, based on excellent reviews and overall service across the board. All helping to the continuos growth of the company within the travel industry.

Croatia was chosen as the first destination to explore due to it's popularity among the Young Professional crowd and the hype around the destination.[7]

The name Koda derived from the word 'friend' in the Yankton-Yanktonai Dakota people and Santee dialects of the Lakota Sioux language[8]

Tour Styles[edit]

For millennials, travel has become much more than a way to see the world, it’s a way to meet people. So much so that they’re now going on so-called “friend networking trips” so they can meet new pals. Koda Sail offers these trips in which travellers can meet like minded people, and further their network as travel clearly builds strong friendships [9].

The Future[edit]

Koda Sail's style of tours will expand to the Amalfi Coast, Turkey, Southeast Asia and the Caribbean over the next 3 years.[10]
