Kongsgaard Gin

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Kongsgaard Gin is a Danish craft Gin label founded by Søren & Bettina Kongsgaard[1]. Inspired by their Danish homeland and the natural environment and forests, the Danish apple is a key ingredient and each batch is based around a seasonal apple[2]. It can be drank either on its own, with tonic water or in a classic cocktail.

Other ingredients include the botanicals - charred oak, resin and cinnamon bark, alongside juniper, ginger, coriander seed, tiger nuts, galangal, liquorice root and whole fresh lemons. It's stilled in an open-flame Cognac still using a wheat base spirit[3] but it is the apple that is at the centerpiece of the gin. Danish apples are famed for their good taste they achieve due to the climatic conditions. The long warm days in ripening season, are replaced by cool and clear summer nights this helps to give the characteristic succulence and well balanced mixture of sweetness and acidity.[4]

They use the moniker: RAW GIN[5] it is Bottled in a green bottle with copper detailing, to reflect the open-flame copper still in which the gin is distilled. The bottle is sealed with a wine cork, a details unlike what you normally find in gin.[6] Each bottle of gin features the variety of apple used and the year they were harvested.

Kongsgaard has won numerous competitions including the San Francisco World Spirits Competition - 2017, IWSC International Wine & Spirit Competition - 2017, Swiss Gin & Rum Awards, Top 15 Gin - 2018, and they were named the Craft Gin Club’s April 2017 Gin of the Month[7]
