Kumud Gandhi was born on the 30th of August 1967. She is an author, food scientist, key note speaker, lecturer, broadcaster and primarily an advocate for improving productivity and performance in the workplace, while championing an ethos of a lifetime of wellness through healthy eating and cooking.

Early Life And Education

After graduating from the London School of Economics in 1990, Kumud pursued a career in the corporate world with The Bank of England as a fast-track graduate. In 2000, having two young children, Kumud decided to leave the world of corporate finance and focus on her passion for real food and promoting healthy food by researching Food Science at The London Food Centre.

Career

In 2007, The Saffron House catering company was Kumud's first business venture.  This resulted in catering for The then Prince of Wales (King Charles 111), Nelson Mandela, Madonna, The Oxford Union, The Royal Academy and Fashion TV and many other well-known public faces and celebrities.

The success of this business generated significant interest from the Saffron House clients for cookery lessons for individuals, as well as private chefs and organisations wanting to provide fun cookery events for their teams and so The Cooking Academy was founded in 2010, based in Rickmansworth.  The Cooking Academy now provides cooking classes, private chef tutoring services and corporate services such as wellness in the workplace and team-building events.

With a driving passion to empower people to cook and eat based on nutrition for improved health, particularly in the corporate sector, this led Kumud naturally to develop a corporate wellness division within The Cooking Academy, enabling her to bring her blend of science and knowledge of wellness through improved diet to the corporate arena. Workshops for companies such as Deloitte, American Express, Astra Zeneca and Hilton Group have served to improve employee productivity and engagement - increasing staff retention and profitability.
