Kung Fu is an upcoming action-adventure martial arts western film project in development as of 2020, based on the TV series of the same name.

Shaolin monk Kwai Chang Caine travels through the American Old West, armed only with his spiritual training and his skill in martial arts, as he seeks his half-brother Danny.

In June 2006, Ed Spielman and Howard Friedlander announced that a feature prequel film set in China was in development but never got made. In September 2007, it was announced that Max Makowski would direct the movie and that he planned to make the film edgier than the original television series.[1] On October 31, 2011, actor-director Bill Paxton was in talks to direct the film adaptation and John McLaughlin will write the script for Legendary Entertainment.[2] On April 11, 2014, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Baz Luhrmann was in talks to direct and possibly rewrite McLaughlin's script for Legendary Entertainment.[3] On January 21, 2020, it reported that David Leitch was in talks to direct and produce the film with Kelly McCormick, Spielman, and Stephen L’Hereaux through his Solipsist Film banner and Universal Pictures will distribute the film.[4]
