Lady Margaret Ó Dubhagáin
Lady Margaret Ó Dubhagáin (born 7th June 1944), is an Anglo-Irish aristocrat, and key figure in the modern Irish Ascendancy. Her mother, Lady Nora Ó Dubhagáin (nee Lady Nora Butler), was a member of the Irish Noble Butler family. She is the great-great-great niece of Edmund,1st Earl of Kilkenny, 11th Viscount Mountgarret.
Through bloodline, Lady Margaret has a strong claim to the Viscounty of Mountgarret, but due to Irish primogeniture laws, her male relative's are considered first, regardless of relation or age. The Earldom of Kilkenny fell extinct in 1846[1], when her great-great-great uncle Edmund died without children. The family estate reverted back to Lady Margaret's great uncle, Henry Edmund Butler, 13th Viscount Mountgarret[2]. In 1891, the 13th Viscount inherited £561,300 from his wife's aunt, which today would be equivalent to £68,478,60[3].Lady Margaret and her descendants have claims to multiple peerages through the Butler Dynasty, including Earl of Kildare, Duke of Leinster, Earl of Ormond, Viscount Mountgarret, . Lady Margaret's grandchild, Lady Saffron McDonnell, also holds a stronger claim to the Dukedom of Leinster, as through her paternal grandmother Lady Millicent FitzGerald, youngest daughter of Gerald FitzGerald, 8th Duke of Leinster, she is the first cousin of Lord Edward FitzGerald, heir presumptive Duke of Leinster.
