Larry Alderman born in 1952 is an American songwriter and musician. He has had two top ten singles on the Billboard singles chart and another single that peaked at #44. Larry's songs have been recorded by Travis Tritt, Loretta Lynn, Mel McDaniel, Hank Williams Jr., John Michael Montgomery, Moe Bandy, Alecia Nugent, the Roys, Confederate Railroad, the Haley Sisters, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, George Jones, Ken Mellons, Wesley Dennis.

In January, 1988 Americana was recorded by Moe Bandy and released as the first single on his No Regrets album. The song charted in the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at number 8. The song also nominated for CMA Song Of the Year. Mel McDaniel recorded the song Real Good Feel Good Song and released it as a single in April 1988, the song peaked at number 9 on the Billboard Singles Chart. Travis Tritt recorded Son of the New South, co-written with Larry on his double platinum Country Club album released February 1990. Hank Williams Jr, co-wrote Don Juan D'Bubba, and released it on his Wham Bam Sam album and as a single in April 1996. On September 26, 2000, John Michael Montgomery released That's What I Like About You". The song peaked at #44 on the Billboard Singles Chart on Feb. 24, 2001. Confederate Railroad released their new album Lucky To Be Alive on July 15,2016 and Larry's song Whiskey And Women is on the album.

Early Years Larry was born and raised in Mt. Airy, North Carolina. It is the real Mayberry, which is Andy Griffith's hometown also. Larry played guitar on main street in front of Floyd's Barbershop, where old men sat and played checkers on a bench while they sold newspapers on a news stand. Larry put that image in his hit song "Americana" on Moe Bandy.

Nashville and Country Music Industry

Larry came to Nashville in the summer of 1971 and slept in his 66 Ford by the Riverfront. The youthful writer hung around the Ryman Auditorium where Grand Ol Opry played on Friday and Saturday night. He met the Wilburn Brothers company publisher, Leslie Wilburn and played him some songs. Leslie signed Larry to a six year exclusive writers contract with Sure-Fire Music. Larry joined the Army on August 9th and sent his songs over the next few years from overseas deployment. Larry did not return to live in Nashville till 1980. He met Meredith Stuart Miller who hired him to do tape copy for Loretta Lynn Enterprises and subsequently Larry was also signed to write at Coal Miners Music. Larry was there until 1994. While at Loretta's company Travis Tritt co-wrote with Larry on Son Of the New South on his Country Club album. Moe Bandy cut "Americana" and while it was on the charts, President George Bush Sr. used it as his campaign theme song. In 1988 Mel McDaniel released "Real Good Feel Good Song" as a single and it peaked at #9 on the Billboard Singles Chart. In 1996 Hank Williams Jr. released "Don Juan D'Bubba as a single from his Wham Bam Sam album. John Michael Montgomery released "That's What I Like About You" as a single and it peaked at #44 in February of 2001. Confederate Railroad release their album "Lucky To Be Alive" and featured Larry's song "Whiskey and Women" in 2016. In 2016 the song "Americana" was again recorded by Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver and was on the Grammy Nominated album In Session.
