The Season 1 World Championship occurred on June 18-20, 2011, in Jönköping, Sweden at Dreamhack. It was the first iteration of the annual League of Legends World Championship which was won by Fnatic led by Enrique xPeke Cedeño Martinez.

Group Stage[edit]
8 teams qualified to battle for season 1 League of Legends World Championship title: 3 from Europe, 3 from North America, and 2 from Southeast Asia. These teams were divided into 2 random groups of 4 playing against their opponents only once in a best-of-one match. Last placed teams from both groups don't get a spot at the playoffs while first placed teams get right into the semifinals of the playoffs.
Playoffs[edit]
Playoffs of season 1 World Championship is double elimination with all matches being best-of-three. First round is a relegation round whereas semifinals and final's losers having another shot at the tournament in the losers' bracket. [2]
