Leapsome is a software company based in Germany that offers software as a service to companies for managing their human resources, with a particular focus on feedback, surveys, and performance management.

Leapsome was founded in 2016 by Jenny Podewils[1] and Kajetan Armansperg.[2][3][4]

It is headquartered in Berlin, Germany[5] serving German and English-speaking markets in Europe[6] and North America. It currently serves 100 teams. Customers include Bayer, Merck,[2] and others.[7]

History[edit]

Leapsome was founded in November, 2016 by Jenny Podewils and Kajetan Armansperg.[8] Podewils is a graduate of the Universities of St. Gallen and Oxford,[6][9] and fellow of Singularity University’s Global Solutions Program and SU Labs Launchpad Accelerator.[4][9] Podewils previously worked at Die Zeit. Armansperg previous worked at FundingCircle.

Podewils and Armansperg founded Leapsome out of the need for companies to have better tools to communicate feedback between employees, managers, and companies, and to help companies for the future digital economy and automation of skills.

Leapsome officially launched in November 2016.

Continuous Feedback[edit]

The continuous feedback module allows employees and managers to give or request structured or unstructured feedback according to pre-set or customizable questions, through either the Leapsome platform, or through the Gmail or Slack integrations. Managers have access to data on employee performance and can assess team competencies.  

Performance Reviews[edit]

Leapsome’s performance reviews are 360º reviews.Employees assess themselves, and are assessed by their coworkers and manager. Reviews can be set to be automated. The Leapsome platform collects reviews over time, building a record of historical feedback.

OKRs (Objectives and Key Results)[edit]

Leapsome models their OKR module off of Google’s  model of OKRs.The OKR module allows the management of company, team, and individual goals.

1:1 Meetings[edit]

The 1:1 tool includes slots for questions, talking points, and results. Meeting histories are tracked to allow individuals to retrieve past meeting records. Meetings can be scheduled and edited from Gmail and Slack.

Engagement and Pulse Surveys[edit]

Employee surveys can be run  on regular, fully-automated cycles and sent out company-wide or to individual teams. Questions can come from pre-set batches, or be customized.

Leapsome has run various events including Feedback and OKR Masterclasses.[10]

Software Integrations[edit]

Leapsome is integrated with Gmail and Slack,[2][7][11] Microsoft Azure Active Directory,[12] and HRIS (human resource information systems) including Personio[13] and Bamboo.[14]

Media Coverage[edit]

Leapsome was one of seven winners selected from 347 ideas in the OpenIdeo Challenge for Gratitude in the Workplace, hosted by OpenIdeo and the Greater Good Science Center at Berkeley.[15][16]

Leapsome has been featured in Wirtschafts Woche,[4] t3n,[1] Mein Startup,[17] Siftery,[2] Digitalkaufman,[18] and the On the Way to New Work podcast with Michael Trautmann and Christoph Magnussen.[19] Leapsome was named a Startup of the Week by Wirtschafts Woche in January 2018.[20] Leapsome has presented at events including HR TEC night[21] and the Singularity University’s Germany Summit.[22]
