Lebanese High Institute of Technology previously known as Norton Technical Institute. Was established in 1990 by Eng. Tony Elias Kahhaleh. The languages of instruction is English and French.

History[edit]

Lebanese High Institute of Technology previously known as Norton Technical Institute. Was established in 1990 by Eng. Tony Elias Kahhaleh. It started with English classes for different levels in order to have better English level in the North of Lebanon, especially there sessions were given to all ages.

To broaden up of the institute, the founder worked on a TS (Technique Superieure) classes opening. After a survey done in different demography in Tripoli they decided that the best major to start with in Technique Superieure was Information Technology and Administration.

In 1995 the management of getting more majors lied always on statistical work in these statistics showed a deficiency specialized travel agents in most of the North. That is why the third step forward was a program of eight months giving all the skills used to plan, reserve and sell tickets. This program was called IATA (International Air Transport Association). The certificate given by the institute was accredited from Canadian Government.

In 2003 the success that Norton had in 13 years the administration to apply for a BT Licensed programs the good reputation of the institute attracted a vast number of student and this had also lead to a further step which is MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist) this technical skills required in the field management.

Campus[edit]

The Tripoli Campus became so narrowed to receive the large number of students. The demand was high but the location capacity was not enough. As well as the unstable situation in Tripoli. All this had led to the idea of having a new campus.

Thus a new location and new name: Lebanese High Institute of Technology.

In 2010, L.I.T in Koura opened its doors for students to register. A 4000m2 strongly built plot, charmly situated in olive tree planted area, 2km away from city center in the suburd of Tripoli: This is what LIT campus is about. A perfect environmentally balanced place to learn and to acquire skills and competences.[1].

Scholarships[edit]

The Lebanese High Institute of Technology offers their students two full scholarships:

  • Mary Kharsa Award
  • Kahhaleh Prize

Mary Kharsa Award is offered to business majors: Accounting, Sales and Information Technology. It's awarded to the student with the highest score in all three business majors.

Kahhaleh Prize is offered to art majors: Graphic Design, Interior Design and Architecture. It's awarded to the student with the highest score in all three art majors.
