Lemania College[edit]

History[edit]

Lemania School was founded in 1908 by Dr. Paul Du Pasquier...[1]

The Lemania Swiss Group of Schools is still owned and managed by the Du Pasquier family. Jean and Eric Du Pasquier took over the business from their father in 1958. In 1986, Jean-Pierre Du Pasquier, grandson of the founder, became the CEO[2]. Under his guidance, new developments occurred and a group of schools was created.

The aim of the school was to allow young people who decided late to study at the university level to be able to prepare a federal high school diploma quicker than in the usual three years of the college.

In 1913, a first building was built at Chemin de Préville in the center of Lausanne. This building still hosts the boarding school, the administration, as well as classrooms. In 1928, Paul Du Pasquier decided to meet new needs and created a commercial studies department.

The school grew regularly and reached approximately 1’000 pupils in the 1980’. It became truly international: in 1982, the 389 student body represented 52 different nationalities.

In 1983, on the occasion of its 75th anniversary, Mr. Jean Du Pasquier created the Paul Du Pasquier Foundation whose aim is to help pupils from families with limited financial means to pursue their studies.

In 2008, Lemania celebrated its 100th anniversary[1][3][4][5]

Lemania offers boarding facilities.

From Lemania School to the Lemania Swiss Group of Schools[edit]

From 1986, when Jean-Pierre Du Pasquier succeeded his father as the Director of the school, Lemania progressively became a group of schools.

In 1986, ESM Ecole de Management et de Communication in Geneva was the first institution to be active at the university level in the group. Since 1987, Lemania started to develop in Valais when Ecole Montani, active in primary and secondary education as well as in commercial studies, joined the group.

In 1998, Ecole des Buissonnets, then in Sierre (VS), became part of the group. This school, based on the principles of Montessori education, prepared its pupils to the Swiss high school diploma and to the French baccalaureate

In 1990, Collège Pierre Viret in Lausanne prepared its pupils to the same exams and was another addition to the group.

In 1997, Business School Lausanne joined the group. Founded in 1987, BSL was the first school in Europe to obtain the accreditation of ACBSP (Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs).

In 2000, Athenaeum, a school of architecture, interior and industrial design, founded just after World War II by the Italian architect Alberto Sartoris, became a member of the group. In 2016, the school merged with Swiss Design Center.

In 2007, the Bilingual School of Suisse Romande was created.

In 2012, Ecole Montani and Ecole des Buissonnets inaugurated a new campus in Sion (VS)[6]

The most recent school to have joined is Lemania Verbier International School.
