Leslie G. Hunt[edit]

Leslie G. Hunt (* June 29, 1954 in Temple, Texas) is a German-American painter.

He mainly works with color etchings, mixed media on canvas and acrylic on canvas.

A large part of his works shows technical objects (e.g. bicycle, plane, lighthouse, sports equipment, writing instruments), which are provided in the style of technical drawings with abstract labels and dimensions. One of his most famous motifs is the pencil with attached @ symbol; a kind of "device for writing e-mails". The irony in his works sometimes already begins with the title - such as Golfomatengepäck (Golf-o-mat luggage) or Manager toys.

Frequent themes[edit]

  • pencil
  • Ink pen with wings
  • Fountain
  • Golf-sports equipment
  • The symbol
  • Abstract handwriting over a large-sized sign / symbol (eg heart, tooth, @ symbol, € symbol) as a background.

Furthermore, he has made various color etchings for individual cities with their attractions.[1] as commissioned works for German galleries.

Life[edit]

Leslie G. Hunt spends his first years in Los Angeles until he moves to Germany with his family when he is 10 years old. After school and education, Leslie G. Hunt returns to Los Angeles where he works as a designer in an architecture company.

Hunt created his first oil paintings 1974 and 1975 first etchings. From 1977 to 1979 he was a designer in an architectural company in Los Angeles. He realizes his wish to work as a freelance artist in 1979 when he returns to Frankfurt and sets up his own etching atelier. He also worked until 1984 in a high-rise planning team in Frankfurt.

This is followed by a series of regional exhibitions [2][3][4][5]. He also worked as a designer for Rosenthal[6]. Over time, he receives orders from well-known companies such as American Express, Braun, Daimler Benz, Pepsi Cola, Siemens, Black & Decker and numerous other companies to erase exclusive special editions for them[7]. Through his love of technical detail and his perfectionism, he can creatively combine his art with the thinking of industrial companies.

After working as a commercial artist from 1984 to 1986, Hunt became a freelance artist. He created since 1996 unique paintings and related from 1999 mixed media on canvas [8].
