1 Although James and Louise both hold a princely status, their titles are styled as the children of an earl, rather than as princes or princesses, in order for them to avoid some of the burdens of royal titles.[1]
2 In 1917, George V declared only male-line grandchildren are entitled to a princely status. Princess Anne's children are female-line grandchildren, and therefore do not have a title.[2]
