Lollypop Lorry - musical band founded in Yekaterinburg, Russia, playing ska, reggae, dub, latin jazz.

2008-2014[edit]

The band was formed in 2008 under the influence of legendary musicians such as The Skatalites, Bob Marley and The Wailers, Lee Perry, as well as Coxsone Dodd (Studio One), Duke Reid (Treasure Isle), Prince Buster labels and producers. The band's musical views were also influenced by Russian groups such as Markscheider Kunst, St. Petersburg Ska-Jazz Review (ru), Chattanooga Ska Orchestra. The band's first audio and video records got rave reviews from Russian ska and reggae fans. It was then the song "Karolina" made it to the local underground music album "Novaya Stsena" ("New Scene") in Yekaterinburg. In 2011 band presented debut EP "Shest koz do Yamaiki" (EP "Six goats to Jamaica"), and the song "Chillout Mafia" took part at the international reggae music album "Hello, Reggae!".[1] Since 2012 new members have joined the band and brought various Afro-Cuban elements into the band's repertoire. In 2013 band has presented second EP "Ska Beat" composed with instrumental ska tracks only. In 2014 the band has experimented with different Jamaican music genres and released "Radio Trenchtown" single with dub and Jamaican boogie tracks. Since 2014 band has become a resident of the Yekaterinburg-based jazz club "Everjazz" results in a significant increase of local fans number [2]. In late 2014, Svetlana Eremeeva has been invited as a lead singer who perfectly fit in with the band's music concept.

2015-present[edit]

Since 2015 Lollypop Lorry has been performing at the annual Moscow Ska Festival. During the period since 2015 till 2016, the band was working in the recording studio and in 2016 it results as a series of releases including "Radio Yekaterinburg" dedicated to their hometown, EP "Circus Magical Muffin" and the first full-scale album "Live At Octopus". "Live At Octopus" seal the sound the band worked for the recent years combined with the classic of the genre songs. For this release band has grown up to 14 members: back-vocals and session wind musicians were invited.
