Lot Ball

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Lot Ball is a team sport in which a team must try to score the most points possible in the allotted time frame. The rules of lot ball are similar to mixture of volleyball, soccer, and parkour. Played in a parking lot, known as a pitch, lot ball provides players with a diverting pastime that builds comradery. Sportsmanship and competitive banter are not only encouraged, but mandated.

The match begins when one of the players serves the ball into the pitch. Unlike volleyball, players are allowed one bounce before returning the ball. Players are also allowed to use any part of their body to continue the rally. Points are then awarded based on the number of touches in the rally. The rally ends when the ball bounces twice in the lot or if one of the players commits a violation. Violations can include catching the ball or hitting the lot ball outside the parking lot.

History[edit]

Lot ball was invented in 1995 by four mates, known colloquially as the Founding Four, in Sicamous, British Columbia. One of the more recent sports, lot ball took off at the start of the 21st Century as people searched for a source of entertainment following the anxiety from Y2K. Lot ball garnered a large contingent of players in the United States, Canada, and of course, Australia.

In 2009, the Lot Ball Premier League was founded to provide players with an opportunity to play the sport professionally.

Lot Ball Premier League[edit]

The Lot Ball Premier League (LBPL) is the most prominent professional lot ball league. Although none of the matches are televised, they are live streamed on Facebook Live and YouTube. Featuring many teams from around the world, there is a great disparity among the quality of the teams in the league. In fact, one team, Lot Ball Supreme, has captured the Premiership title every year since the league's genesis. As such, most of the annual profits from the LBPL are repatriated to Lot Ball Supreme. This imbalance leads to economical and logistical problems for other teams vying to unseat Lot Ball Supreme as the titleholders.

Lot Ball Supreme[edit]

By far the most popular squad in the LBPL, Lot Ball Supreme have held a quasi-dynasty as champions of the LBPL. Their continued success has been attributed to their top-notch talent and their exuberant supporters. Lot Ball Supreme boasts many of the most famous lot ballers in league history, including:

  • Danno: One of the most aggressive players in the league, he is known for his ruthless attacks.
  • Dirt Mike: Known to drop bombs from adjacent pitches, he has the capability to go nuclear.
  • T-Bone: A fan favourite who has the strongest right hand in the LBPL.
  • Teddy McNasty: One of the league's best diggers, he has multiple offers from companies in the Outback.

Currently not on the team, one of the Founding Four, Gar Bear, was also influential in founding Lot Ball Supreme. Whether paper or plastic, he had a knack for bagging the victory for his squad.
