Lower Hewa Khola Hydropower Project

Lower Hewakhola Hydropower Project (21.6 MW) is located at Panchthar District on Province No. 1 of Nepal. The project is scheduled to be completed by August,2018. This project utilizes a gross head of 178.09 m in between the intakes at an elevation of 636.09masl and tailwater level 458.00 masl. The total length of the waterways including intakes, approach canals, settling basins, headrace tunnel, penstock pipe and tailrace will be about 6039 m.[1]

The project has been delayed from its initial target (April, 2016) due to 2015 earthquake and the blockade in the supply of Materials from India. Due to the delay in construction of Kabeli Corridor, the project is also going to face the problem of power evacuation.

The issue of generation license to this project was awarded on 2105-04-08 by Department of Electricity Generation, Ministry of Energy, Government of Nepal.[2]
