Luis Fernandes (footballer)

Luis Fernandes (born 29 August 1987) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Waltham Abbey as a defender.

Luis Fernandes (footballer) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for a Isthmian League South Central Division side Waltham Abbey, where he plays as a left back. He played in the Portuguese Football League as a teenager for U.D. Vilafranquense before dropping into non-league football in England due to work commitments. At the age of 15, he moved to U.D. Vilafranquense and quickly made his Football league debut with only 17 for them playing in the Campeonato de Portugal, the third tier of the Portuguese football league system. In 2010, he was encouraged to come to England, and ended up having a successful trial at National League South side at the time, Staines Town. After a brief spell at Staines he then played for several non-league clubs (Southall, North Greenford United, Chesham United, Royston Town, Ware, Hayes & Yeading United and Cheshunt).

In November 2018 he signed for Waltham Abbey, who currently play in the Isthmian League South Central Division.
