Lukasz Gadowski (* 1977 in Prudnik).[1] is a Polish–German entrepreneur and investor. Founder of Spreadshirt and Delivery Hero, as well as investor in Wolt[2], Volocopter[3] and H11[4]

Life[edit]

Gadowski was born in Poland and came to Germany with his family in the 1980s.[5] He studied business informatics and economics at the University of Paderborn, the University of Mannheim, Georgia Tech in Atlanta and the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences.

Career[edit]

In 2001, while studying in Leipzig, Gadowski founded Spreadshirt, an online shop for individually printable textiles.[6] He started in a corner in the basement of the commercial college and created a company with several hundred employees.[7]

In 2005, Gadowski co-founded the studiVZ social network, which was sold to Holtzbrinck at the beginning of 2007 for an estimated 85 million euros.[8]

In 2007 Gadowski moved to Berlin. There he founded Team Europe Ventures, a venture capitalist, in 2008 together with several partners.[9] His investments include the online shopping club brands4friends, which was sold to eBay for 150 million euros at the end of 2010, the advertising service provider madvertise, the glasses retailer Mister Spex and the pizza service Lieferheld. In 2011 he co-founded Delivery Hero. In 2013, Team Europe sold its shares in Mister Spex after the company received EUR 16 million in financing from Scotish Equity Partners. In 2011 Team Europe cooperated with Hasso Plattner Ventures, an investment company with which SAP founder Hasso Plattner finances Internet companies. In 2012 the cooperation was dissolved again.

For his role in the start-up ecosystem, Gadowski received the German Startup Awards in May 2021, which was awarded by the Federal Association of German Startups together with the consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers.[10][11]
