MBTA Kinki Sharyo Type 7/7.5 is a light rail vehicle made by Kinki Sharyo for Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority Green Line in Boston, Massachusetts. These cars replaced all PCC streetcars and 10 were moved to the Mattapan High Speed Line.

History[edit]

The first cars from 1986 from Kinki Sharyo were placed into service in 1986. The second order known as the Type 7.5 was placed into service in 1997 it looks very similar to the earlier one from 1986 but has a stainless steel body structure for better lifespan than the painted ones from 1986. From 2006–2008, they installed audio and visual information displays on station annoucements to be compatible with the AnsaldoBreda Type 8s. From 2015 to 2017, Alstom refurbished these cars (3600s) to repaint the wear and tear. The fluorescent lighting was replaced with LED Lighting for better lifespan and new door chimes were used.[1]
